Full disclosure before I begin: this is MY experience with these products, some people might have had a different experience but I am speaking from my perspective. I have tried both of these product lines meaning their shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, and gel so I am very familiar with both products. I used each line during different periods of time so I wasn't mixing the two. I hope this can answer any questions you have about these products.

I bought DevaCurl products about over a year ago. I dove in head first by buying their shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, and gel. I didn't buy the leave-in because they had sold out at Ulta Beauty. My first wash day I fell in love with their shampoo. My hair not only felt clean but soft and silky. So I thought that their conditioner would be the same but better. Come to find out the conditioner was okay on my hair, it didn't give me the right level of moisture but it did help me detangle my hair. Once I started using the styling cream, I loved the way it smelled and I could see the product working after I applied it. I then followed up with their gel and it was like magic. I never tried a gel that would hold my curl pattern and not give me that crunchy feeling it was amazing!

After a few months of using DevaCurl the products stop working which is typical for my hair. So like any other product line I stopped using it for a while. I then see a bunch of new articles about curly girls losing their hair from their products. I was in shock! I had heard so many amazing things about the product but no one ever mentioned hair loss. I knew after that I was done with their products for a while.

I needed to find another product that worked for me and fast! I took a trip to Ulta Beauty and came across Ouidad. I had heard about their products but never tried them so I took a leap of faith and the lady at Ulta was very convincing. I took home a shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, and gel. When I started using the shampoo it gave me the same feel that DevaCurl did: soft silky texture which was great. The conditioner was okay for me, it almost had enough moisture but not really. Once I tried the styling cream I started to have some faith, my curls started to shine and feel silky again. Then lastly, the gel is what topped it off giving my hair the lasting hold it needed for my curls to pop.

Overall, both of these product lines are not cheap so it's nice to know what you are getting into before you purchase. I would say that these products have the same quality and I prefer to use their styling cream and gel then their wash products for the price.
